Book: Delta Democracy
My book, Delta Democracy: Pathways to Incremental Civic Revolution in Egypt and Beyond, was published in the Bridging the Gap Series of Oxford University Press in 2020. Delta Democracy uncovers the strategies that Egyptian NGOs and philanthropic foundations used to advance the aims of the 2011 Arab Spring uprisings. Drawing upon fieldwork conducted between 2010 and 2017, the book introduces the reader to Egyptians’ understandings of democracy and how local civil society organizations struggled through political and economic turmoil to promote it.
